About GEAN
Norwegian Center for Geothermal Energy Research (CGER) was established in 2009. The Center, hosted by Norwegian Research Centre AS (NORCE), had partners from all over Norway and acted as a central hub for collaboration between the academic sector and the industry for more than 15 years.
In 2023, during the GeoEnergy Conference, it was announced that CGER would change its name to better reflect its core mission to support the development of the geothermal energy sector in Norway, and to better represent the diversity of its partners.
GEAN partners act across the whole range of activities of the geothermal energy sector: operations, manufacturing, service, consultancy, education and research. Through their involvement in GEAN, they are committed to collaborate and build a platform which promotes geothermal energy in Norway, strengthens national cooperation and serves as catalyst for research and technology development.
